Part-Time Youth Program Manager

Belong – Vienna, VA

Position Type: Part-Time (25 hours/week), Non-Exempt

Reports To: Executive Director

 

Position Summary

Belong seeks a passionate and organized Part-Time Youth Program Manager to support and strengthen its elementary mentoring program. This role is responsible for managing two weekly mentoring sessions and ensuring high-quality experiences for both students and volunteer mentors. Responsible for overall quality and execution of evening mentor session programming.

 

The Youth Program Manager will serve as a key liaison between families, schools, and volunteers, helping to foster meaningful, consistent relationships that support student growth and belonging.

 

Key Responsibilities

Program Implementation & Site Management

 

  • Serve as the on-site lead and decision-maker for mentoring sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings (6:30–8:00 PM) at:

o George C. Marshall High School

o Jim Scott Community Center

  • In collaboration with Executive Director, plan a program year calendar and annual budget for youth programming for the evening sites.

  • Oversee approximately 25 mentor-mentee pairs at each site

  • Ensure sessions are structured, welcoming, and aligned with Belong’s program model

  • Troubleshoot real-time issues and provide on-site leadership and support

 

Student, Family, and School Engagement

  •  Serve as liaison with partner elementary schools to recruit students and to coordinate student participation

  •  Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress and program updates

  •  Support student retention and consistent attendance

 

Volunteer Recruitment & Support

  •  Interview and onboard prospective volunteer mentors

  •  Build strong relationships with current mentors, offering guidance, encouragement, inspiration, and growth opportunities

  • Collaborate with current mentors and partner organizations to plan and host mentor trainings throughout the year

 

Program Preparation & Materials

  •  Prepare mentor-mentee session materials and activities in collaboration with mentors, as needed

  • Ensure materials available are culturally responsive, engaging, and aligned with program goals

 

Partnerships & Resource Development

  •  Identify and help secure in-kind donations (e.g., snacks, supplies)

  •  Build relationships with local organizations to support program delivery

 

Administrative & Reporting

  • Track participation and program data as needed

  •  Manage grant reporting and documentation to support funding requirements

  •  Collaborate with Youth Program Manager for Cunningham Park Elementary School and volunteer leaders on volunteer recruitment/placement, program materials, and grant documentation/reporting

 

Qualifications Required

  •  Understanding of, and a strong passion for, mentoring

  •  Experience in a nonprofit afterschool or evening program

  •  Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills

  •  Ability to manage multiple priorities in a part-time schedule

  •  Professional working proficiency in Spanish (spoken and written) to effectively communicate with families

  •  Strong computer skills, including Gmail, Excel, and Google products

 

Preferred

  •  Experience working with immigrant or multilingual communities

  • Prior experience managing volunteers

  • Familiarity with Fairfax County Public Schools or similar systems

 

Work Schedule

  •  25 hours per week

  • Required availability:

o Tuesday & Wednesday evenings (6:30–8:00 PM)

  •  Additional flexible hours for planning, communication, and administrative tasks

 

Compensation

  •  Competitive hourly rate, commensurate with experience

  • This is a non-exempt, part-time position

Volunteer Bookkeeper

Position Summary

Belong seeks a detail-oriented Volunteer Bookkeeper to support the organization’s financial management. This role is ideal for a retired professional, an experienced bookkeeper looking to give back, or someone seeking to maintain or grow their nonprofit financial skills in a meaningful, low-time-commitment role.

The Volunteer Bookkeeper will help maintain accurate financial records using QuickBooks and work closely with the Executive Director and Board Treasurer to ensure timely and reliable financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update financial records in QuickBooks

  • Record and categorize income and expenses accurately

  • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts monthly

  • Assist with preparation of monthly financial reports for the Board Treasurer

  • Support the annual budget tracking process

  • Provide documentation and support for year-end financial reporting and Form 990 preparation

Qualifications

  • Experience with bookkeeping or basic accounting principles

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks (or willingness to learn quickly)

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with financial information

  • Reliable and able to meet monthly deadlines to align with board meeting dates

  • Comfort working independently with light supervision

Preferred (but not required)

  • Experience working with a nonprofit organization

  • Familiarity with nonprofit accounting practices
